Ewbank Electrical and Control - Projects

Ewbank Electrical and Control has successfully completed various projects in South Africa, Botswana and Zambia. Following is a short description of some of the projects.

Ewbank Mining

P&H 2300 Mk2 Shovel Rebuilds

Ewbank Electrical and Control stripped and rebuild five PH2300Mk2 ElectroTorque shovels. During the rebuild Ewbank replaced the existing relay control logic with a PLC control and protection system. All the PLC and protection designs, programming, installation and commissioning were done by Ewbank.

Ewbank Electrical commissioned all PH2300Mk2 shovels to OEM standards and guaranteed our work for twelve months.

DEMAG 285 & 455 Shovel Rebuilds

Ewbank Electrical stripped and rebuild three Demag 285 and one Demag 455 hydraulic shovel.

During the rebuild phase Ewbank replaced the relay control logics with a PLC System. PLC software planning and programming was done by Ewbank.

Opencast Maintenance Contract

Ewbank Electrical was requested by an OEM to assist and train mine maintenance personnel at a mine in Africa. The mine experienced severe problems with their opencast machines availability. Ewbank Electrical managed to increase the availability from 48% to 85%.

Assemble PH2300Mk2

Ewbank Electrical assembled and commissioned two PH2300Mk2, that were shipped from Australia to South Africa, to OEM standards.

This project was completed in two months.

Ewbank Industrial

Eskom Substations.

Ewbank Electrical has completed various cable contracts for ESKOM (Electrical Supply Commission of South Africa). This include the installation of cable trays, protection panels, RTU / IDF, trenching and cables.

Ewbank Batching Plant

Ewbank Electrical was requested by one of our customers to assist and upgrade their existing SCADA / PLC batching system, as they experienced numerous faults. After investigating and various software modification of the SCADA and PLC programs we were able to increase the production of the plant from 8 Tons per hour to 20 Tons per hour for which the plant was the designed.
